Hello!

Hello! I'm Sally. First and foremost, I'm a grandmother with seven grandchildren that call me Gaga Sally. The Pacific Northwest, where I live, is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Cooking gives me great pleasure. I design websites, landscapes, and clothes. My grandma could cook, sew, or grow anything. Her sister was a fashion designer in the Roaring Twenties. My mom was a homemaker extraordinaire. I'm a mulitpotentialite and a bit of a Francophile.

Background

Allow me to explain. Some of my ancestors, the Devores, harken from France. One of my favorite movies is a French film called Angel A. I watched The French Chef on tv. I love French food (and butter). In high school, I worked in a French bakery. I make a mean Coquilles St. Jacques, and there must be St. Germaine in my champagne.

My favorite clothing brand is a French label called Rouje. I love the floaty, feminine styles and floral ditsy prints. However, I cannot wear Rouje. The cut seems to be for A body types. In Rouje, I'm an XL in the bust, an L in the waist, and an M in the hips. My body type is I (rectangle, straight, athletic). I have a large rib cage that runs into my narrow hips so that I have no waist definition. Shopping for clothes that fit has always been a very depressing experience. That is why I started Sa Joie quite a few years ago. I want shopping for clothes and getting dressed in the morning to be joyful experiences for all women.

Focus on Fit

Anyway, I began designing clothes for women like me who couldn't find anything to flatter their figures. My first collection is for I body types. My next set will probably be for V body types. Not sure yet. I will put each style into production one by one, as my finances allow. Btw, If you like what I'm trying to do, I invite you to inquire about investing in a production run. I will make it worth your while.

Iconic Styles

The main thing about Sa Joie is that once you find a style that you like that makes you look stunning, you will be able to get that same style again but with slight variations in print or trim. Just like at Rouje. They have iconic styles that repeat with slight variations. I believe that Sa Joie styles are destined to become iconic, too.

Transparent, Affordable Pricing

Do you know how pricing 'usually' works? It's based off the Cost of Goods Sold (COGS). COGS includes the cost of the materials used to make it, the cost of the labor to cut and sew it, and any shipping costs. It does not include pattern design, marketing, handling, etc. If it costs $20 to make a dress, you would 2x the COGS and sell it wholesale to the boutique shop for $40. They in turn would 2-3x the wholesale price and sell it for $80 to $120. I adore boutique clothing but I've never been able to bring myself to pay that much. I want as many women as possible to wear my clothes, without the price getting in the way. So I decided that I will do "cost plus" pricing. Separates are cost plus $20 and dresses are cost plus $40.
